Visit us at the MAWEV Show

At last, there is once again a construction machinery trade fair in Austria with the MAWEV. It goes without saying that we will be there in St. Pölten in April with a wide range of different attachments! As a highlight, we will be presenting our new XL drilling rig - the AB6900.

Higher torque - larger drilling diameter - deeper holes

The carriage is based on a completely new concept. The new feature is that the control box is no longer swiveled. The carriage is also no longer supported by the profile as before, but by the steel structure. This allows the drilling rig to be anchored firmly against the rock. The clamps are also positioned differently.

The profile of the AB6900 is made of high-strength SSAB steel. A hose reel has been omitted for reasons of weight and space. Instead, an energy guiding chain is used. With a carriage weight of approx. 3,500 kg, the high-performance system is suitable for excavators with an operating weight of 25 t or more. The double-head rotary drive has a torque of 12,200 Nm.

See for yourself:

You will find us from April 10 - 14 in the open-air area east, stand G34

Oldies, but Goldies

At the moment it's winter break at the Leube gypsum and lime quarry in St. Leonhard near Salzburg. But as soon as it gets warmer again, the 120t Komatsu excavator will come back to life and then the large Wimmer excavator bucket with quick coupler will also be back in action. Delivered in 2009 with a cutting width of 2 meters, it can hold a capacity of 5,740 liters. The proud weight of the attachment, made of wear-resistant Hardox steel, is 7.2 tons.

In total, the bucket has already clocked up over 15,000 operating hours without any faults. Minor wear work has been carried out in recent years, and the quick change was the last general overhaul in 2019. "All in all, a very well-rounded job. The customer and we are very satisfied," says a proud Andreas Wimmer, Managing Director of the Wimmer Group.

Wimmer has made a name for itself internationally with special developments of this kind. The Holcim cement plant (formerly Lafarge) in Retznei, Styria, has also produced such a combination of equipment for the excavator there.

Quick coupler + bucket + ripper tooth in XL

In 2018, the excavator bucket was mounted on a CAT 140t excavator - the largest excavator in Austria at the time. Since then, the loading bucket with its nine cubic meters of loading volume has been in use for over 6,000 working hours. Apart from wear-related repair work, the bucket is still running, well lubricated via the W-Lock 1000 quick coupler. The ripper tooth is used when the material cannot be removed with the bucket.

1984_foundation

40 years of Wimmer

On January 31, 40 years ago, Alois Wimmer laid the foundation stone for the success story of the Wimmer Group.

He started at the Thalgau site in 1984 with three employees - initially mainly with bucket and undercarriage repairs. However, with the invention of the A-Lock hydraulic quick-change system, the company quickly developed into an overall concept for hydraulic excavators.

Today, the 2nd generation family business with Managing Director Andreas Wimmer has grown to around 90 employees (75 in Thalgau and 15 in Budweis). Attachments and drilling rigs are now developed and produced for every requirement. In recent years, Wimmer has also made a name for itself as a specialist in tunnel construction. The BlueBadgers tunnel excavator series and the latest new development, the yellow FOX, are successfully in use throughout Europe.

Thank you to the entire Wimmer team and our customers and partners! We look forward to the next exciting years with new challenges and projects!

Customized customer training

When things are a little quieter in January, we like to use this time for training: In the 2nd week of January, our customer service coordinator Michael Schönleitner was in the Jura region with our long-standing customer Franken Schotter GmbH & Co. KG. The team in Petersbuch received two days of detailed training on service and maintenance work on the Jura Luna series drilling rigs.

Smiling faces at Wimmer and Frankenschotter

First rental use for the eBadger

The eBadger is located in Tournemire, central France. It is located in a former railroad tunnel, a test tunnel of the Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté nucléaire (IRSN). Over the next few months, a transverse tunnel will be driven into the clay rock with the 'electric'.

An exciting first mission for our electrified Badger! We will continue to report.

Exhibition stand-Marmomac-2023

The autumn of the fair 2023

After a year's break, we were again present this year at MARMOMAC - the leading trade fair for the natural stone industry in Verona/Italy. Wimmer has been an absolute expert for drilling rigs for quarries for many years. At our booth we presented a Jura Luna Drill&Split in-line drilling rig, a Lobster stone grapple 6.0 and a single drilling rig AB 2300 T12.
